The ‘Tiptree’ story begins around the early 1700s with Trewlands, the farm that was later to become the main site for jam-making in the Essex village of Tiptree. The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, Tiptree has been growing fruit & making preserves since 1885 in Essex County, England. Their farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), recognizing that they work sympathetically with their environment and encourage links with their local community. They grow a wide range of traditional fruits on the farm right next to their factory, by the farm. Fruits grown at Tiptree include strawberries, raspberries, cherries, loganberries, damsons, greengages, Victoria plums, medlars, mulberries and so on…Producing some of the highest quality preserves & marmalades the world has tasted. Tiptree products are made to cherished recipes and are free from artificial colours and flavours. They inspect and prepare fruit by hand then cook in small batches using traditional, copper-bottomed pans to make the highest consistent quality. Each batch produces only 150 jars of product. Four out of every ten jars sold are marmalade, made from citrus fruits that won’t grow in Britain. The orange marmalades are made from Seville oranges, brought overland from Spain each year.
